Career Experience
I have been a tutor at tutor.com since Fall of 2023; I specialize in multi-/single-variable calculus, algebra/linear-algebra, and geometry. Before passionately tutoring for Tutor.com, I taught a physics lab and worked as a university tutor/TA for one year (2019-2020) before researching for the rest of my PhD (2019-2023). Before that, I worked as a private tutor for a few years (2013-2019) after my undergraduate degree (2008-2013). Devastating health issues have determined large absences in my life (including the gap between my degrees), and I understand the need to empathize with others' pacing: personal circumstances often dictate personal rates of progress, and I firmly believe that the brilliance of anyone is not determined by their "pace of play".
I Love Tutoring Because
I like helping others as best I can and want to make the world a better place; helping people understand the mathematics they'd like to understand to make their lives better/easier/more-authentic is a service I'm eternally happy to give and, better yet, paid to do. I always look to support classrooms that will empower anyone I work with as much as I can by finding paths across problems (or between pieces of a problem) that will continue to help clients even after the classroom is finished. My central hope is to always find what any person needs by considering: 1) The questions clients will maximally benefit from hearing, 2) The proofs clients will maximially benefit from seeing, 3) ,The answers/mistakes clients will maximally benefit from experiencing, under the centermost goal to always, within the classroom timeframe, 0) Make sure the client always has the time/space to use me as an independent resource in self-identifying 1), 2), and 3), under fine-tailored interference to optimize every client's internalization of our (classroom specific) progression across 1), 2), and 3) demands. I believe that the democratizing force of internet based education is an amazing force for good, and I am proud to help as many people, in every way, I can; I especially love tutoring because it allows me to foster hope-/optimism-filled learning, which I whole-heartedly embody in-order to ensure that both the client's correct and/or incorrect work are always valuable lessons (in problem-solving and/or error-correction) unto themselves. Tutoring also helps me support my (puppy)cat, who hangs out near during most sessions, and whom I adore with all my heart..
