Duquesne is devoted to teaching and supporting ethical business practices, and all MBA students are required to take a business ethics course. The Viragh Institute for Business Ethics promotes 鈥渟cholarly thought leadership, curricular innovation, and business ethics in practice.鈥濃�� . The 鈥渧aried work backgrounds of [my fellow] students鈥� and the presence of international students ensure everyone is exposed to global viewpoints.

Teamwork is a big part of academic life at Duquesne, where 鈥渟mall class sizes鈥� allow students to work with each other on rewarding projects 鈥渢hat collaborate across all classes.鈥� Professors are 鈥渆nthusiastic鈥� and 鈥渒nowledgeable in their respective fields,鈥� and bring 鈥渞eal-world application to the material.鈥� They are 鈥渇riendly鈥� and 鈥渁ccessible,鈥� and 鈥渟how a genuine interest in the success of their students.鈥� Students looking to enrich their academic experience or become more involved in the school can apply for a fellowship or graduate assistantship. These competitive appointments employ students in one of three areas: assisting with faculty research; consulting in the university鈥檚 Small Business Development Center; or working in administrative offices. Students are not eligible for these positions until they are accepted, and they must maintain a 3.5 GPA while holding them.

Duquesne鈥檚 鈥渆xcellent reputation鈥� means it is able to attract a wide range of companies to its events. Employers who recently visited campus include Allegheny Technologies, Alcoa, Bank of New York Mellon, Deloitte, PNC Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers, T. Rowe Price, US Steel, Westinghouse.

Many students commute and work part- or full-time, which means classes are filled with people with 鈥渋nteresting and diverse鈥� professional experience. 鈥淚 appreciate the varied work backgrounds of my fellow students,鈥� one student says. 鈥淚t helps to provide insight to other industries and fields.鈥�

Despite its large commuter population, the school still manages to provide a 鈥渃lose-knit community鈥� and a 鈥減ersonal鈥� educational experience.
