01. Overview

What the school is known for:

Covenant College is a 鈥渟mall, private Christian college鈥 located in Lookout Mountain, Georgia and officially affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. It鈥檚 an ideal college for a student looking for an 鈥渋ntegration of faith and learning鈥 with its liberal arts education and focus on Christian ideals, after all the school motto is, 鈥淚n All Things Christ Preeminent.鈥 Many students find the school 鈥渁cademically challenging,鈥 but that their professors are more than willing to help by 鈥渆xpressing genuine desire that their students do well.鈥 A minority of the students has had issues with their professors but, for the most part, they praise their professors calling them, 鈥渉ighly educated in their area of expertise鈥 and that they get to know everyone as 鈥渁 person, not just a student.鈥 Much of this is due to the 鈥減ersonal, small class size鈥 especially in the upper level courses. Students are able to use the school鈥檚 鈥渉elpful and easy-to-understand registration system,鈥 to sign up for classes.

06. Student Body

What students say:

Most students are drawn to the school because of its religious affiliation, but insist that 鈥渢here is not typical student鈥 at Covenant. A lot recognize that its fairly diverse and acknowledge its especially strong 鈥渉ipster culture鈥 and the 鈥渟trong athletic programs鈥 as prominent cultures within the school, but many say that there is no real division between the two and that the school 鈥渇osters community鈥 among everyone. The only issue is that while the school may be somewhat culturally diverse, it鈥檚 not quite as racially diverse with a few wishing it had a better 鈥渉andling of diversity awareness.鈥

07. Mental Health

08. Campus Life

What students say:

Since the school is located on a mountain in northwest Georgia, some of the students find that the campus is, 鈥渁 little isolated,鈥 but that the 鈥渃lose community of students and professors,鈥 really helps to combat any feelings of loneliness. The mountain does have its perks though, since most students tend find that it has a lot to offer with such activities as rock climbing, hiking and biking. There are no sororities or fraternities on campus, but Downtown Chattanooga is 鈥渁bout 20 minutes away鈥 so most tend to go there on weekends and 鈥済o to movies or walk by the river.鈥 They also 鈥渓ove indie music鈥 and are able to see a lot of 鈥渃oncerts and art shows鈥 in the city. Some students say that the administration on campus is getting better at 鈥渓istening to the opinions of students 鈥 but there is still plenty of room for improvement.鈥 While some have this complaint about the higher-ups, most rave about the Campus Activity Board and their 鈥渄ances, along with several other events鈥 throughout the year that help bring students together.
