Elizabeth City State University (ECSU)

Black Pinpoint 1704 Weeksville Road | Elizabeth City, NC | 27909

01. Overview

What the school is known for:

Growth (in every direction) is the watchword of academics at Elizabeth City State University. And a big part of that development comes from a freedom of learning, something that northeastern North Carolina’s only four-year institution of higher education is proud to represent. Through 30 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, along with several online degree options, learners gain from a global education. This focused instructional environment, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 16:1, also promotes energizing discourse and excellent support from professors and staff, with a particular emphasis on the Viking First Year Experience, which couples introductory seminars designed to maximize college success with engaging, experiential learning within the community.

In addition to following more traditional career paths toward business, education, and human health, ECSU students can also pursue unique degrees aligned with emerging businesses and technologies. The university offers the only aviation education program in North Carolina, which can lead to opportunities in working with unmanned aircraft and emergency management. Exciting careers are also being forged from programs such as digital media, sustainability studies, sport management, and homeland security.
