A Christian college 鈥渃ommitted to building character with intellect,鈥 students at Toccoa Falls College say their school excels at 鈥渢eaching men and woman to become professionals in several fields to in order to facilitate the spreading of the Gospel of Christ.鈥 Many undergrads choose Toccoa Falls College for its extensive required curriculum in the Bible and Christian theology, and 鈥渂ecause it is one of the best schools for missions in the United States,鈥 preparing students who plan to pursue careers in missionary service. Whether teaching religious subject matter or traditional academics, 鈥淧rofessors are qualified and, for the most part, entertaining and enlightening.鈥 Serving their students as mentors as well as teachers, Toccoa Falls professors are 鈥減ersonally involved in the students鈥 lives and they take time to say 鈥榟i鈥 and greet students by name.鈥 A senior shares, 鈥淭he administration and professors are very involved in student life outside of the classroom, which I like a lot. I feel like most of my professors are my friends but are still professional about it.鈥

06. Student Body

What students say:

Given the school鈥檚 strong Christian focus, its not surprising that 鈥渕ost of our students are the same in beliefs, so we are pretty much conservative and evangelical.鈥 Religion is taken seriously on this pious campus, and 鈥淭he typical student at TFC is in love with God and wants to model Christ in their everyday lives.鈥 While the majority of undergrads hail from middle-class, White, Southern families, there is some diversity in the undergraduate population. In particular, students point out that there are 鈥渁 lot of Hmong students and growing international student body,鈥 as well as some socioeconomic and ethnic diversity. Generally speaking, 鈥淢ost of these groups fit in well, except for theologically liberal students, who meet with some social ostracism.鈥

07. Mental Health

08. Campus Life

What students say:

In many respects, life at Toccoa Falls is about, 鈥渂ecoming better servants for Christ,鈥 and therefore, 鈥淢ost of us are involved in some type of school or community ministry.鈥 When its time to take a break from their service activities or studies, students tend to 鈥渄o innocent fun stuff, like bowling and roller skating.鈥 A sophomore elaborates, 鈥淲e have good clean fun, usually making fools of ourselves or acting like little kids. We rake leaves and jump in them, have water-gun fights; we go sing karaoke or go bowling; we hike, swim, go out to eat, play games in Wal-Mart, make up scavenger hunts, hang out in the graveyard.鈥 On campus, there is a coffee shop, and many students participate in intramural sports; however, students lament the fact that 鈥渢here aren鈥檛 too many fun activities consistently,鈥 and the surrounding town leaves something to be desired. Thanks to its rural setting, however, Toccoa Falls is, 鈥渁 great place for those who love the outdoors,鈥 as the campus (as indicated by its name) is 鈥渟urrounded by mountains and four waterfalls.鈥
